Shimla Sangla Kalpa Overview

Sangla Valley , a small valley but famous place is situated in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is known as one of the most beautiful valleys in the country. In Tibetan, the term Sangala means “pass of light” which means the valley receiving sunlight during the day.

Kalpa is a small town in Kinnaur district. It is situated in the Sutlej river valley as an perfect vacation spot. Most of the tourist found this place on their way to the famous Spiti Valley. How to reach:
By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi OR Chandigarh Airport is a feasible option for travelling to Shimla as it serves both domestic and international flights from all major cities.

By Rail: Another alternative is New Delhi Railway Station Chandigarh Railway Station , which is one through which most trains arrive and depart from Delhi / Chandigarh.

By Road: One of the best options will be through buses like Volvo buses, as they are well connected to all the major cities.

DAY 1

Chandigarh - Shimla (113 km - 3 hours 37 mins)

Arrive at Chandigarh Railway Station / Airport and drive to Shimla. Reach Shimla evening free to explore The Mall. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 2

Shimla - Sangla (214 km - 6 hours 42 mins)

Check-out from Shimla and drive to Sangla through the thick woods of Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda and alongside the River Sutlej. Evening check in to the hotel. Later enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the river valley of Baspa at a height of 9000ft. This is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Himalayas and it is compared to the famous valley of Kashmir. Known for its rich Kinnauri culture and apple orchards, this valley was opened for tourists only in 1993 for its close proximity to the Tibetien border. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3

Sangla

After breakfast, explore the around including an ancient Kamru Fort & Temple dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya Devi which was brought from Assam & Nages God. Later take an excursion to Chitkul – a last Village on Old Indo – Tibetan Trade Route. Walk through green orchards & brilliant stream. Return back to Sangla and Overnight stay.

DAY 4

Sangla - Kalpa (31 km - 1 hour 3 mins)

After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drive to Kalpa – District Headquarter of Kinnar & once a favorite haunt of Lord Dalhousie. Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel. Later enjoy Kalpa was known as Chini back in the days when it was the Regional Capital. It is said that when Lord Dalhousie wanted to take a break from his hectic schedule in Shimla, he would come here on his Horseback. Each and every corner of Kalpa facing Jorkanden and the Kinner Kailash Peaks, considered as one of the mythical homes of Lord Shiva and by its side is a 79 foot rock formation that resembles a Shivlinga that changes the color as the day passes & is visible to the naked eye on a clear day. After Lunch rest in the hotel. Evening visit the Buddhist Gompa – Hu Bu Lan Kar. Return back to Hotel and Overnight stay.

DAY 5

Kalpa

Early morning enjoy the Sunrise over Kinner Kailash Peaks. After breakfast drive to visit Kalpa is famous for its Apples & Chilgoza Plantations (a kind of Dry Fruits), which are found only in Iran & Turkey besides here. The tree belongs to the Pine Family & the fruit is in about an inch long soft cover. Later visit to the local School & Narayan Nagini Temple Complex, which has Shrines of Hindu, Buddhist & local Deities. After lunch take an excursion to Roghi Village to explore the ‘Pahari’ Life. Return back to Kalpa. Dinner & O/N stay.

DAY 6

Kalpa - Shimla (223 km - 6 hours 30 mins)

After breakfast checkout from hotel and drive to Shimla en-route visit Sarahan . Upon arrival in Shimla transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 7

Shimla - Chandigarh (113 km - 3 hours 35 mins)

After breakfast checkout from hotel and drive to Chandighar Airport/Railway Station to depart the journey. Tour Ends…
